John from Adult Swim Central conducted an interview with some of the creators of Superjail at New York Comic Con in October. Check out this video of him chatting with Christy Karacas, Stephen Warbrick, Mike Carlo (animation director), Janine DiTullio (story editor), and Richard Mather (character layout artist, voice of The Twins).
Kenny Powers is a character (played by Danny McBride) from HBO’s comedy series Eastbound & Down, and he is also the “MFCEO” of K-Swiss in a series of online advertisements for the sneakers. The latest ad features an animated segment produced by Superjail co-creator Christy Karacas, along with other members of the Superjail team. The cartoon is presented as a “Saturday morning commercial, specifically for the soft little minds of children”. The animated portion is 35 seconds long and starts around the 3:30 mark in the video below.
Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only bosomy female to be found in the pages of Playboy‘s January issue: Alice is in there too. The Warden, Jared, the Twins, the Doctor, Jacknife, and Jailbot are all in the magazine as well, but unlike Lindsay, none of the Superjail characters are naked. Instead, they are featured in a six-page comic written and drawn by Superjail creator Christy Karacas. While this is technically considered the “January/February 2012″ issue, the issue is being released early in response to Lohan’s Playboy spread leaking online, and should be available next week.

An exact date has yet to be announced for the start of the new season, but this at least narrows it down to the spring.

Cosplay is common at conventions; here a fan shows off his Warden outfit
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem likely that Superjail will be on Blu-Ray yet. The creators of the show are in favor of the idea, but ultimately the decision isn’t up to them. They had similar answers to questions of things like Superjail toys, video games, or crossovers with other Adult Swim cartoons: it would be cool, but unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Information about Superjail was dispensed in the form of two panels with question and answer sessions. The first was a press conference, for news outlets and websites such as this one; the second was a general panel where the creators of the show answered questions to a room full of fans. I’ve transcribed a couple excepts from these panels that you can read below.

If we get a third season, I’d love to combine the psychedelic randomness and violence of season one and the character development/storytelling of season two. If we did that, I think season 3 would be the best season of Superjail! yet.
We had these two fans in LA come to our hotel room after the show to party. They were really nice – then out of no where they come out in bathrobes and get totally naked. They were trying to get everyone naked…

What’s a typical work day for you at Superjail! headquarters?
Christy Karacas: I’m technically supposed to be here 10 to 7, but sometimes I sleep here. Usually I come in anywhere between 8 and 10, and sometimes I come in at 11 if I have other stuff. People work late here, I kind of have to be here to answer questions and oversee everything. A lot of my duties on the show I get more time to do them before or after work. There’s been a lot of sleeping here this season. This place is really fun, we love making this show. This show is a ton of work, we do almost the whole show in-house, we don’t send any of the animation overseas or anything like that, but it’s kind of a really laid back attitude. It’s like, ‘Everyone, just get your work done and you can do whatever you want.’ We’ve got a pool table, we’ve got a keg. Sometimes around 5 we play pool and have a beer, then go back to work until like 9 or 10. It’s like, really intense but really fun.

“He’s kind of a super-villian dude who has his own army, kinda like Cobra… He washes up on Superjail after his base is destroyed and the warden loves him, sees him as an equal and tries to be buddies… but Stingray has other plans for Superjail. This was actually the first one we did but we didn’t air it first… Stingray appears in other episodes later in the season.”
